Richard J. Sauer, 90, of Noblesville, Indiana passed away on January 9, 2014. Born in 1923 in Dayton, Ohio he was the son of LeRoy D. and Charlotte T. Sauer of Dayton.
He served overseas in the Army Airways Communications Service as Sergeant during World War II, and was a long time member of the American Legion.
In 1950 he married his beloved wife Shirley of Tacoma, Washington. A marriage which lasted until his death.
He was active in Amateur Radio as W8ZFO for almost 60 years. He was owner of Custom Electronics for almost 30 years. He retired to Adams County, Ohio thence to Noblesville, Indiana, near where his son Douglas and his family reside.
Survivors include wife Shirley, son Douglas R. (wife Claudia), and granddaughters Meredith, Mallory, and Meghan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janet Herwig of Bozeman, MT.
Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio. Memorial contributions to Father Flanagans Boys and Girls Town, P.O. Box 6000, Boys Town, NE 68010. Arrangements: Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory.
